There are reasonable grounds to suspect that they are an involved person under the Syria (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 because they are or have been involved in activities carried out on behalf of the Assad regime, implementing or connected to the repressive police of that regime and/or involved in supporting or benefitting from the Assad regime.
Major General Yazan Ahmad al Homsi is an involved person under the Syria (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 on the basis that he is or has been involved in repressing the civilian population in Syria through his role as the Director of the Military Judiciary.
