There are reasonable grounds to suspect that POLINA KOVALEVA, hereafter KOVALEVA, is associated with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov ("Lavrov") through her mother's relationship with him. Lavrov has been designated by the UK since 11 March 2022. Lavrov, is the Russian Foreign Minister and is a member of Russia's Security Council. As such, he is a senior member of the Government of Russia, and a key decision-maker. He is thereby involved in its attempts to destabilise Ukraine and undermining and threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine.
Polina KOVALEVA is an involved person under the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 as she is associated with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Viktorovich LAVROV and Russian businessman Oleg Vladimirovich DERIPASKA. Sergei Viktorovich LAVROV and Oleg Vladimirovich DERIPASKA are “involved” persons under the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulation 2019.
